EVIDENCE-BASED APPROACHES

Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT)
Focuses on changing automatic negative thoughts that can contribute to and worsen emotional difficulties.

Internal Family Systems (IFS) parts work
Helps people access and integrate their protective and wounded inner parts, fostering greater inner harmony and outer connectedness.

Applied Positive Psychology
Focuses on the strengths that enable humans and organizations to flourish by utilizing the PERMA model to understand well-being: Positive emotions, Engagement, Relationships, Meaning, Accomplishment.

Therapeutic Breathwork and Somatic Practices
Invites a mind-body connection into the therapeutic process. Modifying breathing alters communication sent from the respiratory system, rapidly influencing brain regions that regulate behavior, thought and emotion.

Trauma-Informed Expressive Arts Therapies
Combines psychology and the creative process to promote emotional growth and integration. I invite the use of music, visual art, poetry, and movement as my office space permits, and via telehealth.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) - Informed Therapy
Adaptive coping skills to increase mindfulness, interpersonal effectiveness, distress tolerance, and emotion regulation.

The counseling theories and approaches that inform my work include:
Roger’s Person-Centered Theory, Porges' Polyvagal Theory, Herman’s Tri-Phasic Model of Trauma Recovery, Bowlby and Ainsworth’s Attachment Theory, Existential Psychotherapy, Multicultural Counseling, Minuchin’s Structural Family Therapy approach, and Feminist Therapy.
...
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)
(offered in Fall 2025)
Utilizes bilateral stimulation to facilitate the accessing and processing of traumatic memories and other adverse life experiences to bring these to an adaptive resolution.
